Micheal

Art often emerges by accident or happenstance. Creativity will catch up with an artist in the oddest ways. Often a stroke of the brush will take one in a different direction. Or light will fall on a subject just so. And every once in a while, a pleasant theme evolves. This describes Micheal's experience with painting.

Micheal started painting early on. Beginning with works of art in fingerpaint gracing Grandma's wall, she has experimented in watercolor, gouache, acrylic and oil. Water-based oils have become her favorite. These are easily manipulated and very forgiving of strokes gone awry. Micheal sketches subjects with translucent or light color and then tends to build depth and pattern with more color washes. She admires the work of many different artists, but especially Cezanne.

Famous for starting more projects than finishing, Micheal finds joy in trying new things. "If I had all the money in the world, I would become a perpetual college student; attending lectures in every field of study; but not taking the exams." Interests include: travel, curling up with a good book, her three large dogs, studying new subjects, walking through gardens and scuba diving.
